Head Start Program Will Add 20 New Seats
Today Early Learning Indiana awarded a $55,000 grant to bring 20 more high-quality pre-K seats to Anderson.
The capacity building grant, awarded to Transition Resources Corporation Head Start Center, will be used at its Madison Park Church of God’s North Campus site, located at 2604 North Scatterfield Road in Anderson. The program already operates one classroom at the location and this funding will be used for facility improvements, classroom materials as well as for curriculum and instructional supports required to open a second room. Through this process, the center will also reach level 4 on the state’s Paths to QUALITY rating system, the highest ranking possible.
“Head Start programs like this help bring valuable early childhood educational opportunities to families in need. We are proud to partner with Transition Resources Corporation to fund these new, permanent spots for Madison County families and to create more access to high-quality programs for them and future generations of Hoosiers,” said Julie Goldsberry, Early Learning Indiana Acting CEO.
Since 2015, Early Learning Indiana has awarded more than $1.5 million in grants to create an additional 1,300 high-quality seats throughout the state, including two previous grants totaling $143,245 to the Elwood Community Schools Corporation to add 92 new high-quality spaces.
