EARLY LEARNING INDIANA REACTS TO PRE-K LEGISLATION

For Immediate Release: April 22, 2017

Continue push for early education access plus quality implementation

Today, Early Learning Indiana President and CEO Ted Maple issued the following statement in response to the Indiana General Assembly’s $22 million expansion of the state’s pre-K pilot program.

“We thank the members of the General Assembly and the governor for investing additional dollars in the On My Way Pre-K program, while cautioning that Indiana’s work is far from over. Even as we begin to implement this expansion, we must recognize that tens of thousands of Hoosier families will still be unable to access high-quality child care and pre-K.

With all we know about children’s brain development in the first five years of life, and that high-quality early learning experiences lead to later academic readiness and social skills, we cannot rest until every family has a high-quality early learning option within their reach. It’s what Hoosiers want and our children deserve.”
