Visitors from the Women’s Fund toured the Day Nursery Clarian Center, 2140 Boulevard Place, last week. It was a chance for the organization’s key volunteers to get to know Day Nursery better. Women’s Fund of Central Indiana is a special interest fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). They award grants to programs that give opportunities, encouragement, knowledge, and hope to women and girls in central Indiana. Carolyn Dederer, Executive Director of Day Nursery Association led the tour along with Rene Withers, director of the Day Nursery Clarian Center and Beth Rodriguez, Day Nursery Director of Development. “The care, development, and education of our very young children have traditionally been women’s issues,” noted Dederer. “So women know and live out the challenges of balancing work and home life because they are its primary managers. The Women’s Fund, a group of women, understands this role played by mothers who are striving to be economically self sufficient, and the importance of reliable and excellent child care in it. Day Nursery has an ally in the Women’s Fund like none other, because its focus is on identifying the key factors, including child care, that allow women to succeed or hold them back.”
