Closer to Perfect: A Child Care Provider Spotlight

Perfected Child Care Ministry has been operating for 12 years, but in the last 12 months it has really changed – renovated basement, fresh paint, new flooring, lighting, and a brand new curriculum.

Director LaShanda Fain has led the changes, first by putting the Unlicensed Registered Child Care Ministry through VCP, or Voluntary Certification Program, the gateway for ministries to participate in Paths to QUALITY™, the state’s voluntary quality rating system for early education programs. LaShanda wanted to raise the quality of Perfected and enable it to accept students through the state’s On My way Pre-K program.

Ginger Caylor, then Child Care Answers’ Manager of Registered Ministry Support, helped her get there. Ginger worked with Perfected and help them navigate the process of VCP, including improving classroom quality. Once Perfected achieved its VCP, Enhanced Coaching Specialist Ashley Warren helped coach them through Paths to QUALITY™.

Perfected is on track to reach Paths to QUALITY™ Level 3 by summer time, a huge accomplishment. Best of all, the children are in a safer, higher-quality environment and are exposed to a better curriculum and energized, high-quality teachers. Congratulations and great job!

Child Care Answers (CCA) is one of Early Learning Indiana’s three major programs and one of Indiana’s nine state-funded child care resource and referral agencies. CCA has many coaches who work across Marian, Bartholomew, Brown, Hamilton, Hendricks, and Johnson counties and serves thousands of families and providers each year.
