Children at Play Campaign
Creating Age Appropriate and Engaging Outdoor Spaces at Day Early Learning Lilly Family Center.
A Rich History - and a Bright Future
For more than 125 years, Day Early Learning has built a reputation as central Indiana’s leader in high-quality early care and education, with a network of 12 community-based schools. Day Early Learning’s flagship location at Lilly Family Center has been providing early learning instruction to the Indianapolis community for more than 60 years. In a beautiful, park-like setting – an oasis in the heart of urban midtown – generations of children have thrived at the small, close-knit school, a community anchor on the near north side.

We’re thrilled to announce a $500,000 fundraising campaign to renovate the school’s expansive playground, including new nature-inspired play equipment in four dedicated play areas for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and pre-K children. The design and structures will blend seamlessly with the natural outdoor environment and take advantage of the school’s expansive green space. The campaign will also include new landscaping elements to complement the playground transformation and inspire imaginative play.
How You Can Make a Difference
Research shows that outdoor play areas and learning environments are critically important for early childhood learning and development. Unstructured play in safe and engaging outdoor spaces sparks creativity, builds imagination, fosters resilience and encourages problem-solving, allowing children to meet their innate needs for movement and rich sensory play.
Your generous support of the Children at Play campaign will create immersive outdoor spaces at the Lilly Family Center for children to learn, explore and discover the wonders of the world around them – for today’s youngest learners and many more to come.

Goal: $500,000
