Special guest speaker, Kathleen Swec, M.D., F.A.A.P., Indiana University School of Medicine & Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Early Brain and Childhood Development Chair, will be speaking on brain science of early development and how early learning builds a foundation of success.
Dr. Swec received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame before entering Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and served as an Active Duty General Pediatrician in the Navy. Since that time, she has practiced general pediatrics in both academic and private practice settings. Dr. Swec is also the Medical Director for Reach Out and Read, an evidence based national program that incorporates books into pediatric care and encourages families to read aloud every day with their young infants and children.
